The PGA  

Sunday June 12th Rory McIlroy shot a 62 (-8) on the final round to claim the RBC Canadian Open finishing 19 under for the tournament. McIlroy surpassed Greg Norman on the career PGA Tour wins mark and had the following to say regarding Norman “The guy that’s spearheading that tour has 20 wins on the PGA Tour and I was tied with him, and I wanted to get one ahead of him. And I did.”  


Sunday June 12th Brooke Henderson defeated Lindsey Weaver-Wright to win the ShopRite LPGA Classic and claim her 11th tour win. Henderson eagled the first playoff hole after overcoming a 4-shot deficit to force the playoff.  

LIV Golf Invitational Series 

Saturday June 11th Charl Schwartzel won the LIV London Invitational by one stroke over Hennie Du Plessis to claim the 4-million-dollar prize. The Stingers GC team of Charl Schwartzel, Hennie Du Plessis, Branden Grace, and team captain Louis Oosthuizen claimed the team tournament by 14 shots. The team will split the 3-million-dollar prize. 

 MLB: News 

Wednesday June 15th The Houston Astros made history against the Texas Rangers as Luis Garcia and Phil Maton each pitched an immaculate inning in the 9-2 victory. An immaculate inning is when a pitcher throws nine pitches in an inning and all nine pitches are strikes so the pitcher records three outs, all by strikeout, throwing the minimum number of pitches which is 9. Prior to Wednesday night’s game there had been 106 immaculate innings. Wednesday night marked the first time in history it has happened twice in the same game.  

NHL Stanley Cup Finals 

Wednesday June 15th The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 to take a 1-0 series lead in the NHL Stanley Cup finals.  

Saturday June 18th The Colorado Avalanche grabbed a commanding 2-0 series lead with a 7-0 game two win over the Lightning.  

NBA Finals 

Monday June 13th The Golden State Warriors overcome a poor shooting night by Steph Curry (0-9 3 pointers) to grab a commanding 3-2 series lead by defeating the Celtics 104-94. Andrew Wiggins had a big night going 12-23 for 26 points and grabbed 13 boards, 2 steals, 2 assists, and a block.

Thursday June 16th The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 103-90 to win their 4th NBA title in 8 years. Steph Curry was named the Finals MVP and was awarded the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award. Curry was the first player to average 30-5-5 and five made 3-pointers in the NBA Finals.

Wednesday June 15th The Dallas Mavericks acquired Christian Wood from the Houston Rockets for the 26th pick in 2022 and four players with expiring contracts: Boban Marjanovic, Marquese Chriss, Trey Burke, and Sterling Brown. 

Saturday June 18th  Kenny Atkinson backs out of his deal to become the next coach of the Charlotte Hornets opting to remain with the NBA champion Golden State Warriors. 

 NFL News 

Wednesday June 15th Indianapolis Colts safety Khari Willis announced his retirement after three seasons to pursue a career in Ministry. 

Thursday June 16th The NFL fined Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy 100k for violating OTA practice regulations. This is the second time in two years the Cowboys have been sighted for this violation. The team has been docked one day of OTAs in 2023. 

NCAA College Baseball World Series 

Sunday June 12th Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas, Stanford, Arkansas, Auburn, and Texas A&M all punched their ticket to Omaha for the College World Series.  

Friday June 17th Oklahoma scored seven runs in the second inning including a grand slam on their way to a 13-8 victory over Texas A&M. Notre Dame scored three runs in the fifth inning to secure a 7-3 victory over the Texas Longhorns.  

Saturday June 18th Arkansas scored five runs in the fifth inning and eleven runs over the final three innings to blow out Stanford 17-2. Ole Miss defeats Auburn 5-2 behind pitcher Dylan DeLucia’s 10 strikeouts through 7 innings for the Tigers.
