Bucks sign free agent forward Joe Ingles to a one-year deal

Slo-Mo Joe is a Buck!

The Bucks used their mid-level exception to sign Joe Ingles who is recovering from a torn ACL suffered on January 30, while as a member of the Utah Jazz. Ingles is not expected to play for the Bucks in the fall, and could potentially miss all of next season. By all accounts, Ingles is making progress in his recovery as evidenced by this video posted from Ingles’ Twitter account on March 24.

Ingles started the year with the Jazz, before being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team trade.

In 45 games with the Jazz, Ingles averaged 7.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists while shooting 40 percent from the field. He is a career 40 percent shooter from three and should help the Bucks space the floor and knock down shots once he returns.

Ingles throughout his career, has been a great defender, and has a career defensive rating of 107.7 (better than league average) (via StatMuse) Ingles wasn’t as great defensively last season posting a 113.8 DRTG (via StatMuse). But, the Bucks are a better defensive team than Utah and with Coach Mike Budenholzer’s recent defensive philosophy of switching defense, Ingles should return to his old defensive form.

The Bucks don’t exactly need Joe Ingles next season, but once he comes back he’ll be the car rims on top of a Ferrari.

PS: The Joe Ingles Free Agency announcement was hilarious.

Shams would never.
