After a 1-hour and 9 minute rain delay, the Yankees wrapped up their quick 2 game road trip with the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

DJ LeMahieu hit a two run single bringing in Joey Gallo and IKF as the Yanks started off with a 2-0 lead in the top of the 5th inning. New York would add on to its lead in the top of the 6th inning as Josh Donaldson belted a solo home run 417 ft. to left field to increase the lead to 3-0.

Gallo hit a solo home run and the Yankees back-back shots gave them a 4-0 lead. In the top of the 7th inning, Kyle Higashioka knocked the ball out of the park 420 ft. bringing the score to 5-0 after 7 innings.

Aaron Judge hit a grand slam in the beginning of the 8th inning (and that’s why you resign him) and Donaldson hit a sac fly to center scoring Aaron Hicks.

With The Bombers up 10-0 in the top of the ninth inning, Hicks hit the second-grand slam of the evening and Giancarlo Stanton blasted another solo home run to give New York a 15-0 lead. Higashioka drove in the final run for the Yankees with a single to center.

Starting Pitcher- Gerrit Cole

The New York Yankees faced their arch division rival, (and mine) the Boston Red Sox. They played Game 1 of a 4 game series @ Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

In the top of the third inning, Josh Donaldson hit a grand slam with Aaron Hicks hitting a back-to-back solo home run to put the Yankees up 5-0 early.

The Red Sox would then try to a make a rally. Gerrit Cole’s kryptonite Rafael Devers hit a two-run home-run to make it a 5-2 game after 3 innings of play.

In the top of the 5th inning, Jose Trevino hit an RBI double, scoring Aaron Hicks and the Yankees led 6-2.

Devers then hit a 3 run homer to make the score 6-5. This would make it a one run game and the Red Sox grounded out to end the game.

The Yankees snag game 1 away, 6-5 from the Sox.

The Yanks now have 13 sets of back-to-back home runs this season. 1 shy of their record of 14.

Starting Pitcher- Nester Cortês, Jr.

The New York Yankees faced the Red Sox again for game 2 of their 4 game set at Fenway Park. Gleyber Torres started the scoring in the top of the first inning with an RBI single to put the Yankees ahead 1-0. Josh Donaldson added on with a 3 run homer and the score was 4-0 after the top of the 1st inning.

The Red Sox put 2 on the board in the bottom of the first inning as Christian Vazquez belted a 2 run double to cut the Yanks lead to 4-2. The Yankees would add to their lead in the top of the 2nd inning as Matt Carpenter hit an RBI double to make the score, 5-2 Yanks.

Joey Gallo hit a 2 run triple and was thrown out at home plate trying to go for an inside-the-park 3 run home run. Still, New York’s lead increased to 7-2 . In the top of the fourth inning, the Yankees offense poured it on as Carpenter belted a solo home run and Donaldson scored on a throwing error from Vazquez, making the score 9-2.

The Red Sox tried to begin a rally as Trevor Story and Bobby Dalbec hit back-to-back home runs and the Sox cut the deficit to 9-4 after four innings of play. Rob Refsnyder scored on a ground out to third from Xander Bogaerts and it was suddenly 9-5 after 6 innings of play.

The Yankees would put the game away scoring 3 runs and won the second game of the series 12-5.

Carpenter has really been an asset to the Yankees line-up, as he has hit 9 home runs in only 15 starts for the Bronx Bombers.

The game went into extra innings and things got hectic. The Yankees took a 5-3 lead in the top of the 10th inning. Aaron Judge doubled scoring Jose Trevino and Rizzo doubled to right scoring Judge.

The Sox had a chance to walk-it-off in the bottom of the 10th inning and shock the 1st place New York Yankees. Downs made the score 5-4 with an RBI single, scoring Jarren Duran for the Red Sox. Verdugo sealed the game with a 2 run single scoring Refsnyder and Downs.

  1. Great recap. Yankees never change. They lose by 1 run and win by 16 runs! When it rains it pours. Hope their pitching can stay healthy, and hopefully stop giving up so many home runs. GO YANKEES!
