Yankees Rewind: 7/10-7/17/22

Hey Sports fans, welcome back! Since the Yankees had a well deserved day-off Monday, they will take on the Cincinnati Reds @ Yankee Stadium Tuesday.

The two teams haven’t played each other since 2017. They will play a three-game set starting @ 7:05 est, on the YES network.

Starting Pitcher- Gerrit Cole

After about a hour rain delay, Anthony Rizzo hit a two run single in the bottom of the first scoring DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres. The Yankees led 2-0 after 1 inning of play.

NY would add to its lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning as Josh Donaldson singled to center scoring Torres to increase the Yankees lead 3-0.

In the top of the 9th inning, the Reds began to make an improbable rally, as Tyler Naquin reached first base on an infield single scoring Tommy Pham and the Reds made it a 3-1 game.

Kyle Farmer was hit by a pitch scoring Joey Votto to make it 3-2 Yankees. Down to their last strike, Jonathan India hit a two run single which would prove to be the game winner.

The Reds came into Yankee Stadium, being shut down by starting pitcher Gerrit Cole. They stunned the Yankees in the top of the ninth inning, with 4 runs to win the game 4-3.

Starting Pitcher- Luis Severino

After a tough 4-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday, the Bronx Bombers returned to Yankee Stadium for game 2 of a three game set with the Reds.

The Reds got out to a fast start as Joey Votto grounded out to IKF @ shortstop, but Jonathan India scored on a fielder’s choice and Cincinnati led 1-0 after 1 inning of play.

The Reds would add to their lead in the top of the 2nd inning, as Kyle Farmer hit a solo home run 431 ft. to left field to make it 2-0. Mike Moustakas hit a solo shot to right field 390 ft. to increase the lead to 3-0. Stuart Fairchild homered 364 ft. to left field and the Reds led 4-0 after 2 innings, (an incredible back-to-back-to-back inning for the Reds).

The Yankees began to rally as Anthony Rizzo grounded into a fielder’s choice to second, scoring Joey Gallo to cut the lead to 4-1. Gleyber Torres singled to left field scoring DJ LeMahieu and it was now 4-2 Reds.

The Yankees took the lead for the first time in the game as IKF hit a three run double, scoring Rizzo and Torres and the game was now 5-4 home team.

The Reds would score twice in the top of the 5th inning as Votto hit a ground rule double to deep left, scoring India. Tyler Stephenson hit a sac fly, bringing the lead to Cincy 6, Yankees 5 after 5 innings.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Giancarlo Stanton tied the game with a solo shot sending the crowd up on its feet.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, Stanton came up to bat again and the Yankees won on a walk of wild pitch.

On his 34th Birthday, LeMahieu scored the winning run and the Yankees swarmed him @ home plate! And the celebration was on, bringing the final score to 7-6, Yankees.

Starting Pitcher- Nestor Cortês Jr.

After a thrilling 7-6 win in 10 innings in game 2, the New York Yankees took the field once again against the Cincinnati Reds for the rubber match @ Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

We take the action to the top of the 5th inning where Brandon Drury hit a sac fly to right field, putting the Reds up 1-0.

The Yankees tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning when Giancarlo Stanton grounded out to second scoring Aaron Judge.

In the top of the 8th inning, the Reds began a 3 run crusade as Joey Votto hit an RBI single to left, scoring Jonathan India to put Cincinnati up 2-1. Kyle Farmer hit a two run single to right center scoring Tommy Pham and Votto with Farmer reaching second.

The score was now 4-1 with the Yankees turn to bat in the bottom of the inning.

The Yankees had their own three run inning as Judge hit a solo home run 435 ft. to cut the Red’s lead to 4-2. Gleyber Torres went yard with a two run shot 354 ft. and the game was knotted @ 4-4.

With no team scoring in the 9th inning, we now take you to the top of the 10th inning.

Votto hit an RBI double to score Jack Drury and the Reds took the lead 5-4 in the top of the 10th inning. Tyler Stephenson hit an RBI double scoring Matt Reynolds and Cincinnati took a two run lead. The Reds added an insurance run with an RBI single from Donavan Solano and the score was now 7-4 Cincinnati.

Now it was time to see what the Yankees had left in them.

Matt Carpenter inched the Yankees closer with a 2-run home-run to make it a 7-6 game. But that’s all that New York had left in their tanks. Unfortunately they would not score anymore after that.

The Reds won the game by one run and stunningly took 2 out of 3 games from the Yanks at Yankee Stadium.

That brings the Yankees to 6-3 in extra inning games played.

Starting Pitcher- Jordan Montgomery

After losing 2 out of 3 games to the Cincinnati Reds, the Yankees stayed at home for the 1st game of a 3 game set vs the Boston Red Sox. Rafael Devers hit a 2-run home-run 403 ft. to center in the top of the 1st inning and the Red Sox led 2-0.

The Yankees took the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the 3rd as Giancarlo Stanton hit a 3-run home-run 398 ft. scoring DJ LeMahieu and Anthony Rizzo.

In the top of the 4th inning, Christian Vàzquez hit a solo shot 390 ft. to left and the Sox tied it at 3 all.

Bobby Dalbec gave Boston the lead 4-3 in the top of the 7th inning with a solo home run 391 ft.

The Yankees knotted the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the 9th inning as IKF grounded into a fielder’s choice to catcher Christian Vàzquez. It scored Gleyber Torres on the error and sent the game to extra innings.

The Sox took the lead in the top of the 11th inning as Xander Bogarts scored the winning run on a wild pitch by Michael King.

Boston took the 1st game of the series 5-4.

Starting Pitcher- Jameson Taillon

After a disappointing 5-4 loss in 10 innings on Friday, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox met for game 2 of their 3 game set from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The Red Sox took the lead early as Rafael Devers hit a solo home run to right field, giving Boston the lead 1-0. The Yankees tied the game 1-1 as Josh Donaldson grounded out to shortstop, scoring Aaron Judge. Matt Carpenter blasted a 3-run home-run to make it 4-1, Yankees after 1 inning of play.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, Judge hit a solo home run to give New York a 5-1 lead.

Carpenter blasted his second home-run, scoring 3-runs. The Yankees led 8-1 after 5 innings of play.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, DJ LeMahieu walked. Judge hit his second home run of the game, scoring 2 runs bringing the lead to 10-1, New York.

AND THATS WHY YOU SIGN HIM!!

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Carpenter walked, scoring Anthony Rizzo giving the Yankees an 11-1 lead. Aaron Hicks reached on a throwing error by Bobby Dalbec.

The Yankees now led 12-1.

IKF drove in the final two runs on a single to center field.

New York took the 2nd game of the series 14-1.

Carpenter and Judge acquired 10 of the 14 runs in the game.

Carpenter had 7 RBI’s.

Starting Pitcher- Gerrit Cole

The New York Yankees took to the field Sunday for the Rubber Game against the Boston Red Sox from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. It was also the last game of the first half of the 2022 MLB Season.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, Gleyber Torres reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring DJ LeMahieu to put the Yankees up 1-0. Matt Carpenter grounded out to shallow infield scoring Aaron Judge and New York was up 2-0.

Aaron Hicks capped off the inning with a single to right field, scoring Torres. The score was now 3-0 at the end of 1 inning.

Jeter Downs hit a two run homer (his 1st major league) to left field in the top of the 3rd inning for Boston to cut the lead to 3-2.

The Yankees poured in on in the bottom of the 4th inning as LeMahieu hit an RBI single to right field, scoring Tim LoCastro (replacing and giving Stanton a day off).

Giving the Yankees a 4-2 lead.

Judge hit an RBI single, scoring Kyle Higashioka and the game was now 5-2, New York.

Carpenter hit a 2-run double to right field bringing in Judge and LeMahieu, now bringing the score to 7-2 Yankees.

Hicks kept the scoring going with an RBI single, scoring Anthony Rizzo increasing the lead to 8-2.

IKF hit a sac fly to left, scoring Carpenter, widening the gap to 9-2. LoCastro hit a 2-run home-run to give the Yankees a 9 run advantage.

Joey Gallo capped the Yankees day with a 2-run home run (Congratulations Joey!) in the bottom of the 7th.

The Yankees took 2-out-of-3 from the Sox with a 13-2 win.

With this win I would like to Congratulate the New York Yankees players and coaches on having the best record in the MLB in the 1st half of the season going into the break @ 64-28. Let’s keep up the good work men and continue to bring on the good winning attitude’s and play into the 2nd half on the season!

As we head into the All Star Break, I would also like to congratulate the 6 Yankees players who will represent the American League at the 2022 All Star Game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
