Starting Pitcher- Domingo German

The New York Mets took on the New York Yankees to start their 2 day series from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

DJ LeMahieu, who I now call “clutch” started the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning with a sac fly to right field bringing Andrew Benintendi home and the Yankees led 1-0.

Aaron Judge hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 3rd inning and the Yankees led 2-0. (It’s been 9 games since Judge has hit a home run)

The Yankees added another run in the bottom of the 5th inning as Benintendi hit an RBI double to deep right field, scoring IKF and the Yankees now led 3-0.

The Mets made it a 3-2 game in the top of the 7th inning on a two-run home-run by Daniel Vogelbach, but that is as close as the Mets would get to the Yankees all night long as Benintendi belted an RBI single to right field scoring IKF.

The Yankees took game 1 of the Sub-Way Series, 4-2.

This is the Yankees first back-to-back win in the month of August. Let’s keep it up!

Rookie Oswaldo Cabrera drove in his first MLB, RBI with a walk and the Yanks led 2-0 after the 4th inning.

In the top of the 5th inning, the Mets got on the board as Starling Marte hit a single to shallow right field to make it a 2-1 game.

Jeff McNeil hit an RBI double to deep center field, in the top of the 6th inning, scoring Pete Alonso tying the game at 2.

The Yankees regained the lead in the bottom of the 7th inning as Andrew Benintendi hit an RBI single to shallow left field, scoring Cabrera giving the Yankees a 3-2 advantage.

Judge then added an insurance run with a single to center field, scoring Jose Trevino and the Yankees led 4-2.

Closer Wandy Peralta entered the game with the bases loaded and 2 outs to face Francisco Lindor. Peralta struck him out to put the game away.

The Yankees swept the Mets and won the game 4-2.

It was a record crowd, as 48,000+ got to see Peralta make his 2nd save of the year. They also witnessed the Yankees win their first series since June 28th against the Kansas City Royals.

The Yankees enjoyed a well deserved day off on Wednesday!

Fun Fact: Oakland A’s Pitcher James Kaprielian was drafted by the Yankees in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft. He didn’t make his official MLB debut until he was with Oakland in 2020.
