Yankees Rewind: 9/12-9/18/22

Welcome back Sports fans! It’s that time again, yes time again to play my favorite rival team the Boston Red Sox. After a well deserved day off, the team will head out to Boston to take on the Sox for a quick two-game set from Fenway Park.

Tuesday September 13, 2022

Starting Pitcher- Gerrit Cole

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Triston Casas hit a 2-run home-run to center field and the Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the 3rd inning, Marwin Gonzalez hit a 2-run home-run to tie the score at 2.

The Red Sox regained the lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning as Reese McGuire hit a solo home run to right field to give the Red Sox a 3-2 lead.

In the top of the 6th inning, Aaron Judge hit a solo home run to tie the game at 3. This bring Judge’s home run total to 56.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Xander Bogaerts hit a solo home run to right field to give the Red Sox a 4-3 lead.

In the top of the 8th inning, Judge hit another solo home run to knot the game at 4.

And that’s why you sign him!!

In the top of the 10th inning, Gleyber Torres hit a 3 run bases clearing double to give the Yankees a 7-4 lead.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, Alex Verdugo hit an RBI single to center field, scoring Kike Hernandez to make it 7-5 Yankees. Connor Wong scored on a wild pitch from Wandy Peralta to make it a 1 run game.

The Yankees held on for the 7-6 win and took Game 1 of the series.

It was a nail-biting game, but glad that the Yankees did end up with the win!

It was also former player, Bernie William’s 54th Birthday. Happy Birthday wishes go out to Bernie!!

Starting Pitcher- Nestor Cortes, Jr.

The New York Yankees faced the Boston Red Sox for the final game of their 2 game set from Fenway Park.

In the top of the 5th inning, Gleyber Torres hit a 3-run little-league home run, to put the Yankees up 3-0.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, Connor Wong hit an RBI double to deep left field, scoring Rob Refsnyder to cut the lead to 3-1.

In the top of the 6th inning, Jose Trevino hit an RBI double to deep center field, scoring IKF to put the Yankees up 4-1.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Rafael Devers reached on an error, scoring Tommy Pham to make it a 4-2 game. J.D. Martinez hit an RBI groundout to shortstop and Devers was out at second to cut the deficit to 4-3.

In the top of the 9th inning, Torres reached on an error to deep center field, scoring Tim Locastro and the Yankees won the game 5-3.

They took the series 2-0.

The Yankees are 8-2 in their last 10 games.

The Bombers had Thursday off to rest and regroup. They will take on the Milwaukee Brewers Friday night.

Starting Pitcher- Frankie Montas

The New York Yankees took on the Milwaukee Brewers for the first game of a 3 game set from American Family field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

In the top of the 1st inning, Josh Donaldson hit a sac fly to deep left center field to Christian Yelich, scoring Aaron Judge to put the Yankees up 1-0. IKF hit an RBI single to right field, scoring Gleyber Torres and the Yankees lead 2-0. Marwin Gonzalez hit an RBI single to center field, scoring Oswaldo Cabrera, to make it 3-0 Yankees.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Donaldson reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring Judge and Aaron Hicks to put the Yankees up 5-0.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Willy Adames hit a three-run home-run to left field to make it 5-3 Yankees.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Adames hit an RBI double to deep right field, scoring Garrett Mitchell and the Yankee lead was cut to 5-4. Rowdy Tellez hit a sac fly to left field scoring Yelich and the game was tied at 5.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Adames reached on an error by IKF scoring Keston Hiura and the Brewers led for the first time in the game, 6-5.

In the top of the 9th inning, Donaldson hit a solo home run to knot the game at 6.

The Brewers ended it in the bottom of the 9th inning, as Mitchell hit a walk off RBI single to center field scoring Hunter Renfroe and the Brewers won 7-6.

This now brings the Yankees record to 87-57.

Starting Pitcher- Jameson Taillon

The New York Yankees took on the Milwaukee Brewers for the second game of their three game set from American Family field.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Willy Adames hit a three-run home-run to left field to put the Brewers up 3-0.

In the top of the 4th inning, Josh Donaldson hit a solo home run to center field to make it a 3-1 game.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, Christian Yelich hit an RBI double to deep right field, scoring Garrett Mitchell and the Brewers won game 2, 4-1.

The Brewers now lead the series 2-0.

It looks like we will be getting our 1st baseman and one of our leaders, Anthony Rizzo back tomorrow. He has missed 14 games and hasn’t played since Aug. 31st against Anaheim. He has been suffering from painful headaches. I know I will be glad to see him back on first base!

In the bottom of the 1st inning, Kolten Wong hit a three-run home-run to right field and the Brewers took a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Oswaldo Cabrera hit a solo home run to center field and the lead was now 3-1 Brewers.

In the top of the 3rd inning, Aaron Judge hit a solo home run to right field to make it 4-2 Brewers. Anthony Rizzo hit a solo home run to right field to make it 4-3 Brewers.

In the top of the 5th inning, Giancarlo Stanton reached on a fielder’s choice to shortstop, scoring Judge to tie the game at 4. Cabrera hit an RBI single to second base, scoring Rizzo and the Yankees grabbed their first lead 5-4.

Kyle Higashioka hit a two run single to shallow center field, scoring Stanton and Donaldson and the Yankees increased their lead to 7-4.

In the top of the 7th inning, Higashioka grounded out to shallow field, scoring Cabrera to put the Yankees up 8-4. Aaron Hicks hit a solo home run to put the Yankees up 9-4. Judge hit his 2nd solo home run and the Yankees lead 10-4.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Rowdy Tellez hit a 2-run home-run to make it 10-6 Yankees.

In the top of the 9th inning, Judge hit a two run double to deep left field, scoring Hicks and IKF to make it 12-6 Yankees.

In the bottom of the 9th inning, Jace Peterson hit a 2 run double to deep right field, scoring Christian Yelich and Tyrone Taylor to make it a 4 run game.

The Yankees won game 3, 12-8 to avoid the 3 game sweep from the Brewers.

The Bombers now have a 5 [1/2] game lead over the Toronto Blue Jays in the division.

  1. Thank you for your question… It is when the batter hits the ball in the park and the opposing team’s players on the field make errors and the runners on the bases score.
