This rivalry between Wisconsin and Michigan just got more interesting.
If you’re living under a rock, this incident from last season points to why these two teams don’t like each other.
Michigan head coach Juwan Howard did not like that Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard took a timeout with the game in hand. Gard took the timeout because Michigan was playing a press defense, and he wanted to avoid a 10-second violation.
I don’t understand where Wisconsin comes off as “scumbags.” All coach Gard did was take a measly timeout so that the other players didn’t pick up a 10-second violation because Michigan decided to press despite being down 14.
The incident last season started and ended with Juwan Howard, and the Big Ten proved that by suspending him for the rest of the regular season after he punched assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft in the back of the head.
I get it he’s co-hosting a podcast and liable to shoot from the hip but let’s not act like what Wisconsin did last year was all that bad because any coach in any situation would have done the same thing.
The first meeting between these two teams is on Feb. 14, and it cannot come soon enough.
