Wisconsin is playing Northwestern tomorrow night…for some reason.

By: Corey Moen Why? That is the one question I keep coming back to. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Northwestern was supposed to play Iowa last Wednesday, but COVID-19 health and safety protocols postponed that game which meant that the Wisconsin-Northwestern game likely wasn’t going to take place on Saturday. That turned out to be true as the game was postponed on … Continue reading Wisconsin is playing Northwestern tomorrow night…for some reason.

Wisconsin center Steven Crowl had 21 points on 9 of 16 shooting as the Badgers held off Penn State 63-60 on Tuesday night at the Kohl Center. Penn State had two chances to tie the game, but senior guard Andrew Funk missed both attempts, and Penn State is now 0-19 at the Kohl Center with their last win coming in 1995. Wisconsin also got back … Continue reading Wisconsin survives against Penn State on late-defensive stops

The Day After | Wisconsin puts together worst performance of the season

Not many positives to take away from this game. Indiana dismantled the Badgers 63-45 at Assembly Hall on Saturday afternoon. The Badgers were ice-cold from the field going 18 of 56 (32 percent, and an eye-gouging 5 of 24 from three. Guard Connor Essegian was the only Wisconsin player to score in double figures (14 points). This is the third straight game where forward Tyler … Continue reading The Day After | Wisconsin puts together worst performance of the season

Mental Dimes writers talk possible NCAA Tournament field expansion

The NCAA transformation committee recently came out at the beginning of January with a recommendation to expand NCAA championship brackets to accommodate access for 25% of participating teams. What does this mean? This means the NCAA basketball tournaments could possibly be expanded from the current format of 68 teams to 90 teams. Now, these are only recommendations, but this has been a topic up for … Continue reading Mental Dimes writers talk possible NCAA Tournament field expansion

Michigan State rallies to knock off No. 18 Wisconsin

Michigan State’s AJ Hoggard’s jumper with 43 seconds left was enough as Michigan State rallied from five points down to knock off No. 18 Wisconsin, 69-65. Hoggard had only 10 points in the game but made two crucial jumpers down the stretch to help give Michigan State the win. Joey Hauser also contributed 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the win. Wisconsin meanwhile, got a … Continue reading Michigan State rallies to knock off No. 18 Wisconsin

Undermanned Badgers lose to Illinois drop first conference game

The absence of senior forward Tyler Wahl hurt No. 14 Wisconsin on Saturday. Wahl is the team’s leading scorer at 13.2 points, but not that, only that he’s one of Wisconsin’s best defenders and he would have made a difference stopping Illinois’ torrid three-point shooting. Illinois shot an efficient 10-of-19 from three. Illinois junior forward Coleman Hawkins who came into the game shooting at 27% … Continue reading Undermanned Badgers lose to Illinois drop first conference game

The Day After| Wisconsin opens up conference play with a win against Minnesota.

The No. 14 Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team opened up the new year with a 63-60 victory against Minnesota on Tuesday. Forward Steven Crowl led the Badgers with 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Crowl is averaging over 11 points per game and eight rebounds per game so if he can consistently put up performances like this, that adds another low-post threat to the offense that … Continue reading The Day After| Wisconsin opens up conference play with a win against Minnesota.

Michigan center Hunter Dickinson calls Wisconsin “scumbags.”

This rivalry between Wisconsin and Michigan just got more interesting. If you’re living under a rock, this incident from last season points to why these two teams don’t like each other. Michigan head coach Juwan Howard did not like that Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard took a timeout with the game in hand. Gard took the timeout because Michigan was playing a press defense, and … Continue reading Michigan center Hunter Dickinson calls Wisconsin “scumbags.”

Steven Crowl’s 25-point performance leads Wisconsin past Western Michigan

Find the edge. That’s what head coach Greg Gard has been preaching to his team over the last couple of weeks. Wisconsin last played on Dec. 15 against Lehigh after a game set for Dec. 23 against Grambling State, was canceled. The long layoff affected the Badgers in the first half against the Broncos. Wisconsin only led 29-27 and shot a paltry 4-of-14 from the … Continue reading Steven Crowl’s 25-point performance leads Wisconsin past Western Michigan

Is Wisconsin back?

A new era in Wisconsin has arrived. The Badgers added Oklahoma transfer quarterback Nick Evers to the roster on Saturday. Evers was a four-star recruit from Flower Mound High School in Flower Mound, Texas. Luke Fickell was in the market for a quarterback after three-year starter Graham Mertz entered the transfer portal earlier this month.
